Land Grabbers Prey on Blind Man's Property: Heart-Wrenching Struggle of Kuruva Erriswamy for Justice

URAVAKONDA | January 10: In a shocking incident that has sparked local outrage, land grabbers are allegedly attempting to seize the meager holdings of a visually impaired man through fraudulent means. Kuruva Erriswamy, a blind resident of Velpumadugu village in Vidapanakal Mandal, is currently fighting a lone, tearful battle to protect his ancestral land, running from pillar to post in government offices despite his physical limitations.

The Background of the Dispute

The controversy centers around 3.75 acres of land located in Survey Number 332D of Velpumadugu village. According to a registered Gift Deed dating back to 1961, Erriswamy holds full legal rights to this property. However, taking undue advantage of his blindness, certain individuals allegedly fabricated a document in 1982. After a staggering silence of 42 years, they illegally processed a land mutation in September 2024 based on this suspicious document.

A Plea for Justice

"I may not have eyes, but don't the land records have eyes?" Erriswamy questioned emotionally before the authorities. He raised several critical points regarding the injustice:

Document Forgery: The victim alleges that the original extent of the land mentioned in the 1961 deed was altered in the fraudulent documents to show a higher acreage for illegal mutation.

Legal Violations: Under various Supreme Court rulings (such as S.P. Chengal Varaya Naidu vs. Jagannath), any document or decree obtained through fraud is null and void in the eyes of the law. Furthermore, selling the property of minors without explicit court permission is a criminal offense.

Appeal to Authorities

Erriswamy expressed profound disappointment with the revenue officials who, instead of protecting a vulnerable citizen suffering from illness and blindness, acted upon the false evidence provided by the opposing party. He is now pinning his hopes on the ongoing inquiry in the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Court. He has appealed for the immediate cancellation of the illegal mutation and requested that his rightful land be restored to him.

This tragic plight of a man who cannot see, yet is being forced to fight a complex legal battle to save his livelihood, has deeply moved the residents of Vidapanakal Mandal.
