Education is Built on Four Pillars: Irrigation Director Devineni Purushotham

Uravakonda, True Times India (December 5):

The prestigious Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 3.0, organized by the State Government, was successfully held on Friday (December 5) at the Government Girls College in Uravakonda town. State Irrigation Director Devineni Purushotham attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Key Highlights of the Address

Addressing the gathering, Devineni Purushotham emphasized that the strengthening of the education system rests on four critical pillars: students, parents, teachers, and the government.

He stated that the Mega PTM 3.0 is highly important among the initiatives launched by the Andhra Pradesh government to raise educational standards. He clarified that the event was not merely limited to distributing progress cards but served as a platform for the student's comprehensive, or Holistic, progress.

Focus on Holistic Progress Card (HPC)

The meeting heavily focused on providing detailed academic and developmental feedback to parents.

 * Holistic Progress Card (HPC): Agriculture Market Chairman Vijay Bhaskar explained that student progress is detailed to parents through the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), rather than just marks.

 * Comprehensive Assessment: TDP leader Pyaram Keshav elaborated that the assessment includes not only attendance and classroom behavior but also the student’s social, emotional, and psychological capabilities. He also specifically highlighted the performance of primary-level students in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).

 * Individual Planning: College Principal Shasha Vali mentioned that after identifying each student's strengths and weaknesses, discussions were held on the Individual Educational Plan that both teachers and parents must follow to facilitate improvement.

Prioritizing Safety and Counselling for Girls

As the event took place in a girls' college, special attention was paid to the students' safety, health, and mental well-being as part of PTM 3.0:

Career Counselling: Counselling sessions were provided to girls about to complete Intermediate studies regarding higher education and various professional opportunities.

Mental Health Support: To reduce stress and anxiety among the students, Mental Health Counselling sessions were organized, and parents were instructed on how to better manage their children's emotional needs.

Safety Awareness: Key awareness programs, including Good Touch - Bad Touch, personal safety, and Self-Defense, were conducted to ensure the girls' protection.

In conclusion, Principal Shasha Vali and the faculty explained that this Mega PTM 3.0 was not just an ordinary meeting but a crucial platform that fostered coordination among all segments to create a better educational environment.
