Google Companies Get Money... Doesn't the Government Have Money to Run Medical Colleges?

PDSU State President Bhaskar

Speaking at the PDSU district office in LB Nagar, Anantapuram city, State President K. Bhaskar and District Secretary Veerendra Prasad called the statement by the State Chief Minister and Medical Education Minister that the state government does not have the budget to run government medical colleges in the state "atrocious."

They stated that the cabinet decision to run 10 medical colleges in the state under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model is wrong, and they demanded that the government should run all medical colleges across the state. They alleged that the state government's thoughtless decisions over the last 18 months are commercializing medical education and handing it over to the corporate behemoths.

Due to the government writing a letter to the National Medical Council stating that it cannot run medical colleges, poor students in the state have lost 1800 medical seats in the 2024-25 academic year. They also mentioned that the lands of the medical colleges are being leased to corporate entities for 66 years.

Furthermore, they argued that it is wrong and atrocious to say there is no money to run government medical colleges while granting concessions to Google companies in Visakhapatnam, allocating a special budget, and giving it to private entities. They also criticized the Chief Minister and Ministers for misusing crores of public money for tours using special helicopters, saying that it is not right to then claim the government cannot establish medical colleges.

Therefore, they demanded that the coalition government's decisions are incorrect and that the government should immediately withdraw its decision and run all medical colleges across the state. They warned that otherwise, they would be prepared to organize large-scale protests across the state.

PDSU District Vice President Mallela Prasad, District leaders Uday, Mahendra, Anand, Murali, Vinod, and others participated in the program.
