Devotees Demand Answers on Pennahobilam Temple Chariot Construction Delay: Where Did the ₹1 Crore Donations Go?

Devotees and Sunke Naik, Founder of the Girijana Sangham (Tribal Association), are expressing deep concern over the inordinate delay in the construction of the sacred Chariot (Ratham) for Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Pennahobilam.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunke Naik demanded that the most crucial new Chariot for the Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) be constructed before any other temple development works. He posed the following critical questions, echoing the sentiment of the devotees:

Where is the Donation Money? Sunke Naik questioned the Temple Executive Officer (EO) regarding the whereabouts of the estimated ₹1 crore collected as donations from devotees specifically for the construction of the Chariot, even if modernization works were to be taken up later.

Why the Three-Year Delay? The question of why the Chariot construction is being delayed even after 3 years of collecting nearly ₹1 crore in donations is plaguing the minds of devotees, the Girijana Sangham President asserted.

How Much More Time is Needed? He demanded that the authorities clarify how many more years of time are required to complete the construction of the Chariot.

Devotees and Sunke Naik heavily criticized the state of the temple, stating that despite the temple generating revenue from income sources, endowments, and devotee donations, it has fallen into a deplorable condition due to the negligence of officials. They further criticized the Endowments Department for remaining a mere spectator.

In this context, devotees and Girijana Sangham Founder Sunke Naik demanded that the EO immediately demonstrate accountability and issue a clear statement regarding the status of the Chariot construction and the utilization of the donations.
