Despite Sanctioned Funds, Only Negligence? The Plight of Mutyalamma Colony School!

Anantapur : The Upper Primary School located in Mutyalamma Colony, Raju Colony Panchayat, Anantapur District Centre, is caught in a web of problems. Locals allege that there is no one left to care about the school's pathetic condition, said Veerendra Prasad while addressing the issue.

He strongly criticized the coalition government, saying: "Are you destroying government schools and putting private schools on a pedestal?" Local residents and students' parents are leveling severe criticism against the coalition government over the sorry state of the Mutyalamma Colony Primary School. They allege that the government's goal appears to be denying education to students by neglecting the school.

Students Face Severe Hardships Due to Lack of Facilities

The Mutyalamma Colony Primary School, under the jurisdiction of Raju Colony Panchayat, enrolls over 80 students from the first to the seventh grade. However, students are facing extreme difficulties due to the deplorable conditions on the school premises.

Unsanitary Surroundings: The school is surrounded by excessive weeds and wild growth, and rainwater stagnates due to the lack of proper drainage, leading to foul odors emanating from the area.

Health Hazards: The accumulation of garbage is fostering the growth of mosquitoes and venomous insects. There is a serious risk of young students falling ill.

Drinking Water Crisis: There is no proper drinking water facility, and the water storage tank is cracked/broken, causing immense hardship for students needing water.

Locals Fume Over Official Negligence

The public is furious, accusing the concerned officials, including the MLA, Panchayat Secretary, Sarpanch, MEO, and DEO, of displaying blatant negligence in the school's maintenance. Mutyalamma Colony residents expressed their anguish, stating that despite appealing to officials many times, no one has paid attention, leaving them unsure whom to turn to for help.

"The MLA's promises to provide all kinds of facilities and quality education to government schools are confined only to speeches. They are nowhere to be seen in action," they criticized.

School Faces Risk of Closure!

Locals point out that although there are five government primary schools in Raju Colony Panchayat, the student attendance is marginal due to the officials' lax attitude. They worry that this neglect is forcing students to shift to other schools, putting this particular school at risk of imminent closure.

The public demanded the immediate repair and improvement of the primary schools in Raju Colony Panchayat. They urged the coalition government's leaders, the District Education Department officials, and the MLA to take immediate initiative to fix the Mutyalamma Colony school. Failing to do so, Colony resident Veerendra Prasad warned that they would organize large-scale protests with the participation of the public and students.
