Minister Conducts Field Inquiry into Students’ Illness



Salur: Minister Sandhya Rani conducted a field-level inquiry into the illness of students in Kurupam, in the district. She spoke with medical officers to understand the present situation.

As soon as she came to know about the students falling ill, the minister visited the Salur Area Hospital and interacted with the students and their parents. A total of 21 students are under treatment in the hospital. She spoke to each of them and offered reassurance. Later, she discussed the situation with the medical officials.

It was explained to her that, due to the ongoing strike by doctors at primary health centres, patients from various hospital jurisdictions were visiting the Area Hospital for treatment. It was also mentioned that students from six tribal hostels, a Social Welfare Residential School, and KGBVs (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas) were among those affected.

The students were said to be suffering mainly from jaundice, malaria, and other ailments. The minister instructed the officials to provide the best possible medical assistance to all affected students. She assured that the government would extend full support and warned that no negligence should be shown in treatment. She directed that all necessary medical facilities be made available.

Furthermore, the minister instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive review of the quality of food in hostels, the purity of drinking water, and the sanitary conditions in school surroundings to prevent the spread of diseases.
On this occasion, the minister interacted with parents and students, stating that the health of every student is of utmost priority to the government. She expressed confidence that the children would recover soon and return to their schools, urging everyone not to lose hope.
