Illegal Multi-Story Building Construction in Uravakonda: Rules Flouted - Where are the AHUDA Permissions?

Uravakonda, October 17:

The district secretary of the Right to Information Act (RTI), Meenuga Madhu Babu, demanded that district officials take action against the unauthorized construction of an illegal multi-story building within the jurisdiction of Uravakonda Major Gram Panchayat, Anantapur district, alleging that authorities are neglecting the matter. He accused the Panchayat of illegally granting permissions beyond its scope.

Panchayat Oversteps its Jurisdiction

According to details provided by Madhu Babu, Uravakonda Major Gram Panchayat has the authority to sanction building construction permissions only up to G+2 (Ground Floor plus two floors). However, any construction exceeding this limit absolutely requires permission from the Anantapur Housing Urban Development Authority (AHUDA).

Commercial Construction Under the Guise of Residential

Madhu Babu alleged that a doctor is rapidly undertaking multi-story construction in the name of his wife (as a benami) near the Anantapur-Ballari highway road and Sri Eswaramma Temple. He claimed that the builder applied for a G+2 construction but is, under that pretense, continuing the construction of a massive Cellar plus Five (S+G+5) floors.

Madhu Babu criticized that the permission was obtained for a residential building but it is being constructed for commercial purposes (a private hospital). He clarified that taking residential permits and constructing a commercial building is a clear violation of regulations.

Three Belong to the Same Caste: The Mystery Behind the Motive

Madhu Babu suspected financial transactions might have occurred for the Panchayat to indirectly allow the G+5 construction beyond its eligibility. He alleged that significant benefits were obtained for the construction approvals.

Furthermore, he made serious accusations, stating that the illegal construction is proceeding unchecked because the planner, contractor, and village secretary involved in this construction all belong to the same social group, and the Panchayat governing body is also acting indifferently.

Higher Officials Must Intervene

RTI District Secretary Meenuga Madhu Babu strongly demanded that district higher officials conduct a comprehensive investigation into this rampant illegal multi-story building construction within the Uravakonda Panchayat limits and immediately put a stop to the unlawful construction. He warned that if immediate action is not taken against this violation of AHUDA regulations, such constructions will proliferate in the future.
