Daggupati Clan's Legacy of Service Leaves Indelible Mark on Pennahobilam Temple

Uravakonda True Times India, October 10:

A report published in Uravakonda Mana Jana Pragati highlights the Daggupati clan's unique tradition of service and spiritual devotion, noting their prominent role in the service of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Pennahobilam. The newspaper revealed that the family has a long history of playing a key part in the Pennahobilam Temple governing body, continuing their service from the past to the present day.

Invaluable Services to the Temple

The line of service began with Daggupati Peddaiah Chinnappaiah of Mopidi village, followed by his descendants Lingappa and Ramappa, who also served the temple. Smt. Veluri Ramalakshmamma, Lingappa's daughter, also contributed significantly through her position on the governing body.

Ramalakshmamma's father-in-law, Veluri Yerappa (of Amidyala), and his son, Veluri Kondappa, also served on the governing body, providing selfless service to the Lord and the devotees, leaving an enduring impression on the hearts of the people.

 * Cultivation of Barren Lands: During a time when there was a lack of oversight for the temple's lands, this family brought the temple's barren and dry lands under cultivation. They paid the due taxes and provided invaluable service in improving the land's utility.

 * Mechanization in Agriculture: Demonstrating their commitment to agriculture, the family cultivated forest land a century ago. They not only cultivated their own 300 acres but also brought 1500 acres of the temple's forest land under cultivation. When ploughing with cattle was difficult in those days, they imported two foreign tractors, pioneering mechanized farming techniques.

Soubhagya Enters the Race for Governing Body Chairman

With a heritage rooted in devotion, spiritual depth, and a spirit of service, Daggupati Soubhagya has emerged as a hopeful candidate for the position of Governing Body Chairman.

The newspaper noted that anyone who asks the elders of the constituency will learn about this family's long history of selfless service. It expressed confidence that if Soubhagya is appointed the chairman, she will use her influence with state and central government leaders to ensure the all-round development of the Pennahobilam Temple.

Vision for a Tourism Hub

The report asserted that the Daggupati family members would be at the forefront of developing Pennahobilam into a major tourism centre, establishing it as the first Narasimha Kshetram (holy site) in the district.

Given Chief Minister Chandrababu's high regard for women's empowerment and the Central Government's policies prioritizing women, there is a widespread belief among devotees and the public that the coalition leaders will ensure that the educated Soubhagya is appointed as the Governing Body Chairman.
