URAVAKONDA (Lattavaram):

The story of Bodhapati Chandra Mohan is a testament to the fact that merit knows no boundaries. Starting his journey from a remote village in the Anantapur district, he has risen to become the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, the highest administrative position in the state, bringing immense pride to the Telugu community.

From Humble Roots to the Pinnacle of Power

Born into a modest family in Lattavaram village of Uravakonda Mandal, Chandra Mohan’s foundation was built on discipline and education. His father, Ramappa, a retired Tehsildar, instilled in him the values of public service from a young age. After completing his primary education locally, Chandra Mohan pursued a degree in Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc), initially setting out to serve as a doctor.

A Distinguished Career in Civil Services

Driven by a desire to impact society on a larger scale, he pivoted to the Civil Services and joined the 1995 IAS batch under the Tamil Nadu cadre. Over a career spanning three decades, he has held several high-profile portfolios:

Principal Secretary (PWD): Played a pivotal role in developing the state's infrastructure.

Tourism & Culture: Left a lasting mark by promoting heritage and modernizing tourism.

Rural Development: As Commissioner of Panchayat Raj, he spearheaded initiatives for rural empowerment.

Celebrations in the Heartland

The news of his appointment as Chief Secretary by the M.K. Stalin government triggered a wave of joy in his native village, Lattavaram. His father, Ramappa, former Sarpanch Govindappa, and other family members were seen sharing sweets with villagers to celebrate the "local boy's" historic achievement.

"It is a moment of immense pride for all of us to see a son of our soil becoming the administrative head of a major state like Tamil Nadu," expressed the local villagers.

An Inspiration for the Next Generation

B. Chandra Mohan’s rise proves that with hard work and education, one can reach the highest echelons of power regardless of their political or social background. His journey serves as a powerful lesson for students in the rural pockets of Anantapur, proving that no dream is too big.
