Anantapur, December 29: In a significant move towards strengthening democratic transparency, Daggupati Soubhagya Sriram has been elected as the President of the Right to Information (RTI) Protection Association for the Uravakonda constituency.
Soubhagya Sriram, who possesses a deep understanding of the RTI Act and Human Rights, currently serves as the District President of the BJP Mahila Morcha. Following her appointment, she announced plans to form committees in every mandal within the constituency to enhance public awareness regarding their rights.
9th Grand Convention of RTI Protection Association in Anantapur
The 9th District Convention of the RTI Protection Association was held grandly at the District Central Library in Anantapur. Presided over by the association's founding president, A. Honnurappa, the event saw a massive turnout of activists and leaders from all assembly constituencies across the district.
New Committee Election: High Priority for Women
A new district committee was unanimously elected during the convention, with a notable emphasis on women’s leadership. The newly appointed executive members include:
* District Vice Presidents: Potthuri Rangamma Naidu and B. Anantha Kumari.
* Organizing Secretaries: Kuluru Malleshwari, Erramasetti Chandrakala Royal, and Nagajyoti.
* Committee Members: Suhasini, Uma, Kavitha Sharma, Ashabi, Nagaveni, and Lakshminarasamma.
Constituency Expansion Plans
Addressing the gathering, Vanagondi Vijayalakshmi (Guntakal) and Daggupati Soubhagya (Uravakonda) stated that they would soon establish new committees within their respective assembly constituencies. They also extended an invitation to the founding president to attend the upcoming swearing-in ceremonies of these local bodies.
In his closing remarks, Honnurappa urged every activist to work diligently to ensure greater government accountability to the public through the effective use of the RTI Act.
