Arrest of Appalaraju Unconstitutional: CPM Lashes Out

Uravakonda: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the illegal arrest of Appalaraju, the General Secretary of the Anakapalli District Rythu Sangham, under the PD Act. Speaking at a press conference held at the party office in Uravakonda, leaders slammed the state government's "dictatorial" actions.

"Government Displaying Tyrannical Tendencies"

CPM Mandal Secretary Netyam Madhusudhan and Regional Secretary Rangareddy stated that the government is ruthlessly seizing farmers' lands for the establishment of a Bulk Drug Factory in the Home Minister's constituency. They asserted that arresting a leader who has been spearheading a movement on behalf of farmers is a clear sign of the state's oppressive governance.

Key Demands & Criticisms:

 * Withdraw False Cases: The leaders demanded the immediate revocation of the PD Act charges against Appalaraju and his unconditional release.

 * Government Serving Corporate Interests: They alleged that the state government is prioritizing corporate giants over the livelihoods of farmers and warned that slapping illegal cases on those who question this injustice is intolerable.

 * Threat to Democracy: The leaders remarked that attempting to instill fear among those fighting for the people is a wicked tactic, adding that such "reign of terror" must come to an end.

Call for United Protest

The CPM leaders urged the public not to view this arrest as an attack on a single individual but as an assault on democracy itself. They called upon intellectuals, educators, lawyers, doctors, laborers, students, women’s organizations, and leaders of various political parties to unite in condemning the government’s crackdown. They vowed to intensify the struggle to protect farmers' lands and ensure the release of Appalaraju.
