URVAKONDA, Boodagavi Village (Anantapuram District):
Following directives from higher authorities, a special awareness program focused on the safety of women and children was conducted today (28/11/2025) in Boodagavi village under the supervision of the Urvakonda Police Sub-Inspector (S.I.) Naidu. The S.I., along with their staff, WPC 3776, and Women Police personnel, actively participated in the event.
The session provided in-depth awareness on various social and cybercrimes that women face or are likely to encounter.
🛡️ Key Focus on Women's Safety
The police team explained the technological and legal resources provided by the government to ensure women's protection:
* 'Shakti' App and its Uses: Women were urged to mandatorily download the 'Shakti' App. Practical demonstrations were given on how to use the app during emergencies and how to obtain immediate assistance through it.
* Crime Awareness: The session covered sexual abuse and other crimes against women and children, emphasizing methods of prevention and encouraging them not to hesitate to file a complaint.
* Family Counselling: Awareness was raised regarding the Family Counselling services available at the police station for family issues and the benefits derived from these services.
📞 Clarity on Emergency Services
Clear instructions were provided regarding crucial emergency contact numbers:
* Dial Numbers: The importance and usage of emergency numbers—Dial 100/112 (Immediate Police Assistance), 1098 (Child Helpline), and 181 (Women's Helpline)—were explained.
💻 Warning on Cyber and Financial Fraud
The police alerted women to the growing menace of modern crimes:
* Fake Phone Calls & OTP: Participants were warned to be vigilant against fraudulent phone calls pretending to be from banks, and to never share OTPs (One-Time Passwords) or personal details with anyone over the phone.
* Cybercrime & ATM Fraud: Precautions to avoid becoming victims of cybercrimes and ATM frauds were detailed.
🚫 Social Responsibility and Warnings
The session also addressed broader societal issues like drugs and child marriage:
* Drug-Free Society: The negative effects of drugs on youth and the resulting damage were explained, urging everyone to cooperate in maintaining a drug-free society.
* Child Marriages: Awareness was provided regarding the legal consequences of child marriages and their impact on children's future.
* Traffic Rules: Finally, participants were requested to ensure that their family members at home do not drive under the influence of alcohol and wear a helmet while driving, thus promoting road safety within the community.
