Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Praises ANR’s Vision; Invites Nagarjuna to Lead Telangana’s Creative Growth

Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday visited Annapurna College of Film & Media and lauded the institution for nurturing new creative talent. He recalled the visionary contribution of the late Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), who established Annapurna Studios in the 1970s when the area had minimal infrastructure, transforming it into one of Hyderabad’s major cultural and cinematic hubs.

Addressing students and faculty, the Deputy CM said he was deeply moved by Roll No. 52, a student film produced at the college. “The film touched hearts, and I appreciate the director and the entire team for delivering such meaningful work,” he said.

Emphasizing the state’s development goals, he noted that the Telangana government aims to build a $3 trillion economy by 2047, with the film industry playing a significant role. He urged the support of senior film personalities, including Chiranjeevi, Akkineni Nagarjuna, and others, in shaping this vision.

The Deputy CM added that Akkineni Nagarjuna had earlier spoken about the exceptional talent emerging from Annapurna College, which motivated his visit.

Akkineni Nagarjuna, speaking on the occasion, said Annapurna Studios stands on the foundation laid by ANR when he shifted the Telugu film industry from Chennai to Hyderabad. He said the studio and Annapurna College continue to uphold ANR’s dream of fostering world-class storytellers. “We are honoured by your visit and committed to supporting Telangana’s growth in global cinema,” he said.

During the visit, the Deputy CM congratulated the students and assured full government support to strengthen Telangana as a global hub for filmmaking, media, innovation and creativity. He also toured Annapurna Studios and the ANR Sound & Vision facility, India’s first Dolby-certified cinema studio, praising its advanced infrastructure and technology.
