Anantapur District, Uravakonda: Kavitha Mohammed (80), who excelled in all fields and was known as the synonym for goodness, passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment in Kerala. His death is an irreparable loss to the residents of Uravakonda, and many praised his services.
A Man of Uravakonda
Mohammed, a native of Kerala, was a familiar figure in Uravakonda.
He came to the Uravakonda area 45 years ago for livelihood and settled in the hotel industry.
He named his establishment Kavitha Hotel, which flourished over time, providing employment to about 20 people consistently.
It is no exaggeration to say that no one in Uravakonda is unfamiliar with Kavitha Hotel or Kavitha Mohammed. Consequently, the circle where the hotel is located is popularly known as Kavitha Junction.
Synonym for Goodness and Philanthropy
Kavitha Mohammed truly stood as a synonym for goodness.
He was a benevolent and charitable person, holding the poor dear to his heart.
He provided free lentil soup (pappu sambaru) to many poor students and is credited with setting up free meals at his hotel.
He served through the Lion Club.
He also served as the President of the Dargah Masjid for 20 years.
He exemplified the saying, "Live and let live," earning a reputation as a spiritual man, a public servant, and a business giant.
Political and Social Service
He made his political entry into the Uravakonda Congress and was a staunch admirer of Rajiv Gandhi.
He was elected as a Ward Member three times, leaving an indelible mark on the Uravakonda residents.
Starting as a Ward Member, he was unanimously elected as the Vice-President of the Town Bank.
He served as the President of Kerala Business Associations in the neighboring Ballari district of Karnataka, inspiring many.
Last Rites
Mohammed, who came from Kerala and settled in Uravakonda, had recently returned to Kerala.
Having suffered from illness for the past few days, he was receiving treatment in Kerala. He passed away at his residence in Kerala on Sunday evening.
He is survived by four children: three sons and one daughter.
Community Condolences
The news of Mohammed's death shocked the people of Uravakonda. Many offered prayers for the peace of his soul.
Malapati Srinivasulu and Devarinti referred to him as "Kavitha Mohammed, the synonym for goodness."
Lenin described him as a "treasure trove for the poor."
Ward Members Niranjan Goud and Chidananda stated that Kavitha Mohammed, a man of charity, was a pioneer of the maxim "Live and let live."
