58th National Library Week Celebrations Grandly Launched in Uravakonda:y. Prathap Reddy

Uravakonda:The 58th National Library Week celebrations were grandly inaugurated on Friday morning at the Branch Library in Uravakonda, which operates under the District Library Foundation, Anantapur. The local Mandal Education Officer (M.E.O.), Eswarappa, attended as the chief guest and officially launched the week-long event.

Tributes to Chacha Nehru

Marking the occasion of Children's Day, M.E.O. Eswarappa first paid rich tributes by garlanding the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Utilize the Wealth of Books

Speaking on the occasion, M.E.O. Eswarappa addressed the students and advised everyone to certainly utilize the immense wealth of books available at the library. "Even ancient books that are not available elsewhere can be found in libraries. It is the responsibility of all of us to make good use of the library," he stated.

He recalled that the establishment of so many libraries today is due to the efforts of library movement activists like S. R. Ranganathan, Kalluru Subba Rao, and Ayyanki Venkataramanayya. He shared that his own passion for literature grew through the library, emphasizing that the value of a book has not diminished despite technological advancements.

Appeal to Participate in Competitions

Following this, the Library Officer, Y. Pratap Reddy, requested students to make it a habit to read all types of books, not just textbooks. He mentioned that no book is inferior and one can gain immense knowledge even by reading a small book.

He announced that various competitions will be organized during these week-long celebrations, running from November 14 to 20, and urged all students to participate enthusiastically and make the program a success.

High school students, library readers, and staff participated in the event.
