Press Release: Water Supply Workers in Uravakonda Seek Minister Payyavula Keshav's Intervention Over 4 Months

 Pending Salaries

Uravakonda, October 31:

Workers employed in the drinking water supply scheme in Uravakonda town are facing severe difficulties as their salaries have been pending for the last four months. Urging a resolution to this issue, 22 workers/employees of the scheme, which supplies drinking water to Uravakonda town and seven surrounding villages, recently submitted a representation to the Minister for Finance and local MLA, Shri Payyavula Keshav.

Key Demands:

The workers highlighted the following main points in their petition:

 * 4 Months Salary Arrears: Immediate payment of pending salaries for the four-month period from December 1, 2023, to March 1, 2025 (Note: The dates in the original document suggest a longer period, but the text specifies 4 months).

 * Salary Hike: They requested that their wages be increased in line with the current market rate. They stated that they are currently receiving only ₹10,000/- per month and sought an increase.

 * Allowance Payments: Payment of arrears related to their overtime work, such as Night Duty and Tower Operator Duty, must be cleared.

 * Timely Payments: They demanded a permanent system be established to ensure salaries are paid on or before the 1st of every month.

Severity of the Issue:

The workers expressed their distress, stating that they have been working in the Uravakonda Municipal Drinking Water Supply and seven-village scheme for the past 22 years, and the delay in receiving salaries is making it difficult to sustain their families.

The representation was signed by Shri Kanchayya Reddy (Chairman) D.P.R. Contractor and other workers' representatives. They earnestly requested the Minister to intervene and resolve their long-pending issues.
