Rayadurgam:
Gouni Pratap Reddy, the Congress Party President for Rayadurgam Constituency, has launched a scathing attack on TDP MLA Kalava Srinivasulu, accusing him of making derogatory remarks against the Dalit and Reddy communities. Reacting to the recent developments surrounding the MPP elections, Reddy demanded an unconditional apology from the MLA.
"Democracy Mocked"
Pratap Reddy criticized the recent Bommanahal MPP election, alleging that the Telugu Desam Party won through the "backdoor" using money and muscle power, despite not having a single elected MPTC member.
"Winning by distorting facts and using the arrogance of power, without respecting the public mandate, is a testament to Kalava’s deceptive politics. Today is a Black Day in the political history of Rayadurgam," he remarked.
Allegations of Caste Bias
The Congress leader questioned whether the MLA holds a grudge against Dalits, citing Kalava’s reported statement that he had "never even looked at the face" of the SC woman serving as the Kanekal MPP.
Discrimination: Reddy questioned why the MLA ignored a Dalit woman holding the MPP post in Kanekal but personally intervened to secure a win for upper-caste leaders in Bommanahal.
Derogatory Remarks: He expressed outrage over Kalava’s comment—"Whichever village a Reddy belongs to, he is a 'Poligaadu' (an outsider/menial) in another village"—calling it a direct insult to the entire Reddy community.
Criticism of "Outsider" Status
The people of Rayadurgam treated Kalava Srinivasulu like their own and elected him as MLA twice, despite him being an outsider. In return, he is insulting the very people and communities that supported him," Pratap Reddy stated. He further added that the "hidden agenda" of the MLA has now been exposed, and the public would give a fitting lesson in the upcoming local body elections.
A Call to Action
Concluding his statement, Gouni Pratap Reddy urged members of the Dalit and Reddy communities within the TDP to recognize the MLA's true character. He expressed his "deepest condolences" for the "murder of democracy" in the Rayadurgam constituency.
