Jiyyammavalasa,Gummalakshmipuram: The State Government is committed to empowering DWCRA women and strengthening their financial independence, said Government Whip and Kurupam MLA, Toyaka Jagadishwari. On Wednesday, she formally inaugurated the ‘Velugu Mahila Mart,’ established under the supervision of DRDA, on the Elvinpeta – P. Lewidi main road in Gummalakshmipuram mandal of Parvathipuram Manyam district.
Jagadishwari began the ceremony with the ribbon-cutting, followed by traditional rituals, including coconut-breaking and special prayers. Inside the mart, she keenly inspected an array of essential commodities and household items arranged by women’s self-help group members. She personally purchased several items, symbolically initiating the mart’s first sale.
Speaking on the occasion, she stated that ventures like the Velugu Mahila Mart significantly contribute to helping women achieve entrepreneurial success and self-sufficiency. She advised the mart administrators to ensure the availability of quality products at reasonable prices for the public.
The event saw the participation of DRDA officials, local public representatives, Velugu staff, and numerous women’s group members.
