AYF–ASF Protest Over Unsafe Private & School Buses in Rayadurgam

Student and youth organizations AYF and ASF staged a protest at the RTO office in Rayadurgam, alleging that private travels and school/college buses are violating safety rules and putting students' lives at risk.

Leaders demanded a complete ban on double-decker buses, strict action against overcrowded private buses, and immediate seizure of vehicles running without fitness certificates. They also highlighted issues like lack of safety grills, unlicensed or aged drivers, and Karnataka-registered school buses operating without proper verification.

They pointed out several travels — Meenakshi, Madhavi, All Madina, Chennakeshava, Bellary Travels — and many schools whose buses are allegedly operating in violation of safety norms.

Demands

Special inspections on private, school, and college buses.

Seizure of unfit vehicles.

Verification of Karnataka-based school buses.

Action against overloading.

Strict checks on driver experience, age, and licenses.

Full inspection of insurance, permits, and fitness

District-level Road Safety Committee.

Leaders said the transport department must act immediately to prevent accidents like the recent Kurnool incident.
