RDT Services Resume: Centre Agrees to FCRA Renewal

Uravakonda, October 9 : The Central Government has opened the doors for the services of the Rural Development Trust (RDT). The government has agreed to the renewal of RDT's license under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). This decision has sparked enthusiasm among RDT service beneficiaries and the poor across the district.

RDT, a voluntary service organization in Anantapuram district, has made a strong impact among the marginalized and weaker sections. It has earned a good reputation among the public by providing a wide range of services, from A to Z, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and services for persons with disabilities.

Earlier, the Central Government had suspended the renewal process for RDT's FCRA, putting a brake on its services.

'Mana Jana Pragati' Campaign Pivotal

'Mana Jana Pragati' daily newspaper consistently highlighted this issue. It published articles under the headlines, "No Brakes for RDT Services, Yes to FCRA" and pleaded on behalf of the poor, asserting, "Do not hinder the services of RDT, which is dedicated to the poor and weaker sections; renewal of the Foreign Regulation Act is paramount."

The newspaper played a crucial role in mobilizing the beneficiaries, featuring the plight of Dalit and tribal beneficiaries to mount pressure on the Central and State Governments.

Coalition Leaders Intervene

The issue was also brought to the attention of the government in the Assembly by Rapthadu MLA Smt. Paritala Sunitha, Singanamala MLA Bandaru Sravani, and other TDP public representatives. Ministers Nara Lokesh and Payyavula Keshav responded to the matter. Dharamavaram MLA and Minister Satya Kumar Yadav also played a key role in bringing the issue to the notice of the Central Government.

Responding to the groundswell of support, State Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and leaders of the coalition government took the matter up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The massive public demand for the immediate FCRA renewal for RDT pressured the Central Government to relent.

Consequently, the path for RDT's services has been cleared, and the beneficiaries have heaved a sigh of relief.

'Mana Jana Pragati' daily newspaper extended its "Hats off" to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and PM Narendra Modi for their intervention.
