First District Conference in Uravakonda on October 16 & 17

AIFDS District Conference: Call to Fight Against Education Sector Issues

Uravakonda:

The All India Federation of Democratic Students (AIFDS) is set to hold its first district conference in Uravakonda to formulate an action plan for future struggles aimed at resolving the numerous problems plaguing the education sector. The conference will take place at the Junior College in the town on October 16 and 17. A statement was released in this regard by the AIFDS District President and Secretary, Nandu and Siddu.

Planning for Future Protests

AIFDS leaders and students unveiled the posters for the district conference at Uravakonda Junior College. The leaders stated that the primary objective of the conference is to initiate and prepare a plan for an agitation to address the issues in the education sector.

Criticism of Central and State Governments

AIFDS leaders severely criticized the education policies of both the central and state governments:

 * On the Central Government: They alleged that the BJP government, having come to power for the third time, is attempting to carry out the saffronization and privatization of education across the country under the guise of the New Education Policy. As part of this, they claimed that individuals with RSS leanings are being appointed as professors in all Central Universities. They also criticized the BJP government for violating the rights to education, which is on the Concurrent List.

 * On the State Government: They expressed outrage that despite being in power for nearly a year, the state government is acting indifferently to the pending fee reimbursement and scholarships amounting to approximately ₹6,000 crore. They also noted that the government has not addressed the issue of filling vacant lecturer posts in universities.

Key Demands

The AIFDS primarily put forward the following demands:

 * Abolish the Minor systems (Minority courses/subjects).

 * The government must completely withdraw the Internship system.

 * Fill all vacant PD (Physical Director) posts in Government Junior Colleges.

 * Continue the old system of working hours for Government Junior Colleges.

 * Start the Mid-Day Meal Scheme and provide textbooks in Aided Junior Colleges.

 * Release the pending Mess and Cosmetic charges for welfare hostels where poor and middle-class students study. Increase the Mess charges to ₹3,000 per month to align with current price hikes.

 * Immediately fill all vacant lecturer posts in universities.

The AIFDS leaders urged students and intellectuals to participate in large numbers to make the district conference a success, as it is being held to prepare a strategy for future struggles to resolve these issues. AIFDS District Leader Tarun, Mandal President and Secretaries Madhu, Kullayi Swamy, Ashok, Aravindu, Anji, Revanth Kumar, Raju, Somu, and other students participated in the event.
