10-Point Plan to Empower Women: Minister Satya Kumar Yadav

Amaravati: The state government has unveiled a comprehensive 10-point plan aimed at empowering women and enhancing their participation in the state’s development, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced. The initiative is part of a broader population stabilization policy designed to ensure long-term, inclusive growth.

The minister stated that the plan focuses on addressing social and economic inequalities faced by women by providing them with equal opportunities and supportive environments. The government aims to eliminate gender discrimination and ensure women can actively contribute to societal progress at every stage of life.

Key aspects of the plan include strengthening maternal and child healthcare, recognizing reproductive rights, promoting women’s financial independence, and encouraging shared parental responsibility in childcare. The minister emphasized that women’s empowerment is essential for sustainable social development.

To create a women-friendly work environment, the government has proposed setting up crèche facilities in workplaces with more than 50 employees. In addition, working women’s hostels will be established in urban areas, with one hostel for every one lakh population.

Highlighting the need for shared responsibility in childcare, the minister said efforts will be made to increase male participation through awareness initiatives. The existing 180-day maternity leave is proposed to be expanded into a 12-month parental leave policy, allowing both parents to share responsibilities equally.

Recognizing parenthood as a right, the government plans to provide free fertility services to families facing infertility issues. Around 50,000 families per year are expected to benefit from this initiative. Specialized centers and training programs in reproductive health will also be introduced.

The government is also focusing on improving maternal and child health by addressing issues such as early pregnancies, malnutrition, and high rates of cesarean deliveries. Targets have been set to reduce such concerns through better awareness and healthcare support.

Further, the state aims to increase women’s participation in the workforce from the current 31% to 61%. The minister noted that this could significantly boost the state’s economic growth. Flexible work hours and work-from-home opportunities are also being considered to support women.

The minister concluded that comprehensive healthcare, economic independence, and social equality will play a crucial role in achieving full empowerment of women and effective population stabilization.
