Uneven Sanitation in Nagireddypalli Village

Drains clogged on one side, no drainage at all on the other
Nagireddypalli village panchayat in Brahmasamudram mandal of Anantapur district is facing serious sanitation issues, causing inconvenience to residents. While one part of the village has drainage canals filled with silt and waste, another part lacks drainage facilities completely, creating an uneven and unhealthy situation.
In several streets, drainage systems exist but have not been desilted for the past three years. As a result, they are completely clogged, preventing wastewater from flowing properly. Stagnant water has become a common sight, spreading foul odor and creating unhygienic conditions. During the rainy season, the problem worsens as drains overflow and sewage water spills onto roads, affecting daily life.
On the other side of the village, the situation is even more alarming. There are no drainage facilities at all, forcing wastewater from households to flow onto roads and open areas. This leads to water stagnation, turning surroundings into breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies, posing serious health risks to residents, especially children and elderly people.
Villagers allege that despite repeated complaints to the panchayat authorities, no proper action has been taken. They say that officials have neglected both the maintenance of existing drains and the construction of new drainage systems where needed.
Residents also complain about the unbearable foul smell caused by stagnant wastewater. During rainy days, roads are flooded with sewage, making it difficult for people to move around. The lack of proper sanitation infrastructure has significantly affected their daily lives.
Villagers are demanding immediate action from the concerned authorities. They urge officials to clean and desilt existing drains and construct proper drainage systems in areas where there are none. They also request a regular maintenance system to avoid such issues in the future.
Overall, the sanitation crisis in Nagireddypalli village highlights the urgent need for proper planning and equal infrastructure development. If the issue is not addressed soon, it may further impact the health and well-being of the residents.
